P&O Irish Sea has been awarded the top shipping accolade at the recent Export & Freight Transport and Logistics Gala Awards ceremony 2006, held at the Ramada Hotel.
A delighted Graham McCullough, General Manager, P&O Irish Sea Scottish Services commented; “Our ‘Focused on Freight’ proposition demonstrates the main thrust of our strategic development over the past few years and winning this award is testament of our commitment to the freight transport market.
P&O currently operate routes from Larne to Cairnryan and to Troon as well as Dublin to Liverpool offering up to 28 departures daily. The judges highlighted P&O's ongoing commitment to improving the quality, service and reliability of these routes,
as a winning combination. Over the past few years P&O have introduced new vessels, upgraded shore based facilities, trained staff and developed their online booking system.
Graham McCullough continues; “In addition to our already established reputation for quality and reliability of service this award also recognises our strategy in developing closer business relationships with our customers, understanding their specific needs and offering increased flexibility to ensure a seamless and cohesive supply chain”.
P&O offer a wide ranging list of services for customers. As well as general cargo, they specialise in the shipment of Hazardous loads, Abnormal loads, Refrigerated trailers, Livestock vehicles and a wide selection of unaccompanied and trade equipment. Customers range from the UK’s largest supermarket chains to local major transport companies.
Charlie Greene, General Manager, Republic of Ireland Services suggests; “We have very close working relationships with all our customers, stretching back many years. We work continually to tailor our service to meet their changing needs. The ‘just in time’ element has had a huge impact on how we all run our businesses, with greater emphasis on reliability to ensure fast and efficient movement of traffic. This is an on-going process and we will continue to look for new opportunities to develop our business to ensure that we meet and surpass customer’s requirements and expectations”
In 2006, P&O Irish Sea will carry some 450,000 freight units between Ireland and Britain on its three routes to and from Scotland and England.
P&O Irish Sea is focused on its freight customers, Graham McCullough and Charlie Greene add; “The dedication and hard work of the freight team, some of whom have been in service for more than 30years, have helped to ensure that P&O are the ‘Shipping Line of the Year 2006’.
